Mr Lee from Leets Dreaming, engaged our Year 2 students as they discovered and explored local indigenous perspectives. This experience fostered our current History studies and our children’s understanding of the world around them, as they connected to their local community. Mr Lee showcased and explained various resources, telling us what they were and how they can be used. We reflected on this learning adventure as we focused on the uses of a hand-carved knife, the Lilly Pilly Tree, Black Bean seeds and the Lemon Myrtle tree. This incursion was a wonderful way for our children to share and transfer their knowledge and understanding from one context to another, through discussion and drawing.
