The College values the role that physical activity plays in the lives of students. Involvement in sport encourages not only fitness and health but also integral life skills, such as teamwork, integrity, discipline and confidence.
The College offers a range of competitive and non-competitive sporting options. Students have the opportunity to participate in sports such as netball, basketball, equestrian, touch football, swimming and soccer at both school and inter-school friendly competition through involvement in the Hinterland Independence Alliance. The esteemed equestrian team continuously achieve exceptional results.
Recreational sport includes golf, dance, bushwalking, horse riding, sailing, lawn bowls, ice-skating and many more.
Tamborine Mountain College is part of the Independent Sporting Association for the major Sporting Carnivals, which include swimming, athletics and cross-country. College students have great success at these events with students reaching State Level.
Inter-house carnivals are led by the House Captains and foster School Spirit. All students are encouraged to participate in these carnivals and there is an ongoing tradition of House pride. The College is divided into three sport houses for in-school sporting activities. These houses are Kyle (blue), Walton (red) and Nicholls (gold). The “Melbourne Cup” (named after the Principal Mrs June Melbourne) is the House Trophy that is competed for in Swimming, Cross-Country and Athletics.
