On Friday 27 May selected Instrumental Music students from Yr 4-12 walked to Roslyn Lodge and put on a lovely concert of duets and trios for the residents. They did a brilliant job! They were focused, precise and performed beautiful music. A huge thank you for Mr Mike Worton for coming with us and helping everything run smoothly.

Ursula and Katelyn performed a lovely hymn on muted trumpets, then our beginner clarinetists (Georgia, Annie and Myles) performed a short trio – what a great effort for students who have only played 3 months! Amy and Mia had them singing along with “Aura Lee/Love Me Tender”, while Phoebe and Jess performed with beautiful precision. Mackenzie’s faultless performance of three duets showed what excellent focus and stamina she had – the clarinet leaves you breathless! Morrissey was multi-talented, performing a beautiful duet on glockenspiel followed by a lovely violin solo – from memory! Madeline wowed the audience with her performance of an AMEB exam piece and technical duet, while Eden, Alice and Cleah were the perfect end to the concert with excellent performances of three high level duets.

Students were treated to a lovely morning tea afterwards and mingled with the residents. One resident told me we needed to come more often! Students came away pumped and wanting to learn more pieces for next time. Can’t wait!
