This week saw the start of the final stretch for TMCs 2024 Year 12 Cohort. External exams mark the culmination of 2 years of hard work, study and dedication. This week saw exams in English, Visual Art, Engineering, Psychology and Physics. Whilst it is a stressful times for our students I am pleased to report that most had a smile on their face as they walked out of each exam. The External Exams will continue for another 2 weeks and we have all our fingers and toes crossed and wish all the Year 12s great success.

This week Year 11 student and 2025 College Captain Addison M and Year 10 Student Teegan Mitchell have joined in with members of the Tamborine Mountain Chamber of Commerce to judge this year's annual Scarecrow Festival. Addi and Teegan have spent 2024 working as a part of the Scarecrow Festival committee planning this year's event. Both girls have done an amazing job and have represented the College with pride. Well done.

The Early Learning Centre (ELC) and Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) have come together to create a heartwarming entry for the 2024 Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival. Titled "Our Yarning Circle," this collaborative project is a celebration of creativity, culture, and community. Through tie-dye, papier-mâché, and storytelling, the children and educators have brought their favorite stories to life in a colorful, inviting space that symbolizes the importance of sharing and connecting.

We invite the community to support our entry by voting for us as People's Choice at Fortitude Brew & Co. Join us for the awards afternoon at Fortitude Brew & Co. this Sunday at 3:00 pm, where we can come together as a community to celebrate Mountain life and connection. Our scarecrow has already been awarded a 'Highly Commended' award!

Let’s make this festival an unforgettable experience! Thank you to everyone, especially the children, for all your hard work to make the creative elements for the display.

Tuesday was am even bigger day for one of our students, with Ella Marise not only competing in our Touch Football Tournament but also showcasing her Martial Arts skills on National TV. Ella Marise was a part of the Channel 9 broadcast for Global Martial Arts (GMA) which was promoting the sport, ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. 

It further showcased GMA's athletes as future Olympians whilst acknowledging the athletes who recently competed for Australia at the World Taekwondo Competition in Korea. There were also other athletes present who competed at the Australian Open and Presidents Cup (Oceania) in Brisbane. TMC would like to congratulate Ella Marise on being a part of a wonderful showcase.

On Tuesday, 23 TMC students travelled down to Southport to play in the King's Christian College Primary School Touch Football Tournament. Our two teams competed in the U/12's Mixed Division, with both coming up against strong competition. TMC B had an extremely tough pool which saw them play against many schools with Touch Football Excellence Programs. Throughout the day, their teamwork and confidence grew, making it a great learning experience. TMC A also faced strong competition, coming away with three draws and two very tight losses. The students were quite unlucky, leading three of their games with under one minute to go, with the opposition scoring late tries to make the games a draw. 

I would like to thank all of our students for their commitment to training throughout break times and their effort on the day. Playing four to five games was a massive effort, with many of our students not playing on a regular basis. I would also like to thank Ms Hiron for assisting with coaching the teams and the large number of parents who came to support on the day.

School Immunisation Program visits to Gold Coast Secondary Schools will conclude on 31st October 2024.

 The Gold Coast Public Health immunisation team are providing two additional catch-up clinics for ALL Year 7 & 10 students who missed any immunisations in the 2024 school program.

• Thursday 14th Nov – Nerang Bicentennial Hall ( 3-6pm )
• Tuesday 26th Nov – Robina Library ( 3- 6pm )

 NO APPOINTMENT IS NECESSARY

Gold Coast Public Health weekly community immunisation clinics are also available for catch up immunisations.
