Helping Our Children Navigate the Online World – A Helpful Read for Parents
As a parent and an educator, I know how challenging it can be to keep up with the fast-moving online world our teenagers are growing up in—especially our boys, who are often exposed to content and connections that can influence how they see themselves and others.
One area that continues to grow in concern is online gaming. While many games are a great source of fun and connection, some gaming spaces can expose our children to harmful language, toxic behaviours, and unhealthy attitudes—often without them even realising it. These environments sometimes serve as a gateway into more concerning online subcultures.
I’d like to share this article from Safe on Social that I think many of you will find both informative and practical:
🔗 Understanding Incels – A Clear and Calm Breakdown
The article offers an explanation of the rise of the ‘incel’ subculture, but what’s especially helpful are the strategies it provides for parents. It shares practical ways to support our children in developing healthy online habits, recognising risky content, and building respectful relationships—both online and offline.
I encourage you to take a few minutes to read it. The more we understand what’s happening in their online spaces, including gaming, the better placed we are to guide our children in growing into kind, confident, and respectful young adults.

TMC Awards Night – Save the Date
This year, TMC will be holding an Awards Night instead of our previous Awards Day. The event will take place on Wednesday 19th November at the Robina Community Centre.
This will be a more intimate celebration, with invitations extended to award recipients, Year 12 graduates, and student performers, along with their parents. While it won’t involve the entire student body, it promises to be a very special evening recognising excellence, achievement, and the conclusion of a significant chapter for our Year 12s.
Further details, including invitations, will be shared closer to the date.

Year 3 Embrace Autumn Creativity!
During the recent school closure due to Cyclone Alfred, our Year 3 students were given an optional homework task to create an autumn-inspired art piece using natural materials like leaves, twigs, and flowers. While some students were able to complete this at home, we wanted to ensure everyone had the opportunity to take part—so we brought the activity into the classroom! It was wonderful to see the students working together, sharing their ideas, and taking pride in their unique creations. The final pieces were truly spectacular, capturing the essence of autumn in the most natural and artistic way!
Well done, Year 3!
