Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to invite you to the upcoming Tamborine Mountain College Parents and Friends (P&F) Annual General Meeting (AGM). This meeting will be a great opportunity to hear updates from the P&F, learn about the initiatives we have undertaken this year, and discuss plans for the future of our school community.

Details of the AGM:

• Date: Wednesday 20 November 
• Time: 9am - 10am
• Location: Admin Building 

During the AGM, we will also be discussing the open positions of President and Vice-President. If you are interested in applying for one of these roles, or would like more information about the responsibilities involved, please feel free to reach out or express your interest before the meeting.

Additionally, we are welcoming all parents to join the P&F Committee. Being part of the Committee is a wonderful way to actively contribute to the College community, collaborate with other parents, and support initiatives that benefit our children. Committee members are encouraged to attend regular meetings (all meeting dates and activity dates for 2025 will be given at the meeting), and all parents are welcome to participate in the discussions, regardless of whether they hold an official role.

We look forward to seeing you at the AGM and appreciate your ongoing support of our College community.

We are thrilled to announce the opening of The Little Bookroom, a vibrant new space dedicated to fostering a love of books and reading within our students. This special area has been a passion project of mine, inspired by the vision of creating a welcoming environment where students can simply enjoy being with books.

The stunning murals in The Little Bookroom were designed and brought to life by talented artist Shmick, generously sponsored by Merge Creative. Each mural reflects the beauty and diversity of our natural surroundings and invites our students to immerse themselves in the magic of reading. Our shelves are stocked with books donated by our wonderful Tamborine Mountain College community, showcasing the incredible support from our families and friends.

While borrowing isn’t available yet, we anticipate that book loans will be up and running in 2025. In the meantime, classes have already begun exploring the space. This week, Mr Stevens delighted our Prep students with a lively reading session, and lunchtimes have seen a steady flow of students from Years 3 to 11 enjoying a peaceful, air-conditioned retreat. Chess has been a lunchtime favourite, as has colouring in, Uno, and of course - reading!

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who donated books and made this dream a reality. Your generosity is deeply appreciated. We no longer require general book donations, but if you have Young Adult titles suitable for teenagers, we would gratefully accept these additions.

Dear Parent/s & Guardian/s

We are excited to announce that TMC will implement a new and improved payment platform to pay your child/ren's school fees via direct debit in Parent Lounge.

This new payment system will take effect from 1st January 2025.

It is a paperless, secure payment system within Parent Lounge, which will allow you to set up a payment arrangement that is most convenient for your family.

There are various payment options such as credit/debit cards, bank account or both, as well as more flexibility with the frequency and days the payment will be debited. The system will also include improved communication, advising you of upcoming payment dates and amounts.

We believe this system will provide greater flexibility and convenience for our College families.

An email with further information and instructions on how to set this up will be sent in the coming weeks.

This week saw the completion of the QCAA External Exams for 2024. It has been an extremely rewarding 3 weeks for the year 12s as they conclude their High School studies and begin their preparation for their next great adventure, adulthood. These exams represent the culmination of two years of hard work on behalf of the students and their teachers, each and everyone of whom should be proud of the efforts they have made. Thank you to the whole TMC community for your support of the Year 12s during this time.

This week we hosted our Semester 2 Sports Assembly where we celebrated the achievements of our Secondary School students.  We recognised individual sporting achievements, HIA sports results and announced our much anticipated Swimming Carnival results.

Year 6 were involved in Year 7 Orientation Day on Thursday this week, this was a brilliant day where our existing and new students were able to experience what life in secondary school is truly like.  All students enjoyed a fun and engaging day and participated in a range of lessons including, Maths, English, Science, Art, HASS, HPE and Drama. It was fantastic to see everyone happy and smiling. Many thanks to all staff and student helpers involved, your help and guidance has inspired our students to feel welcome and encouraged on what can be an overwhelming day! Congratulations to all for a successful day and I can't wait to work with you all in 2025.

After walking back from swimming on Tuesday, 6VAL took advantage of the cool and quiet Little Book Room to relax.  We learned where each kind of book was shelved and how to use the space so that it is neat and tidy for the next users.  We looked around at the beautiful art work and Harry Potter displays.  After learning about the space, we had time to sit back and have a quiet read.
