A Look Back on Term 4 in Year 5

Term 4 has been a busy and exciting term for Year 5, filled with hands-on activities, creativity, and exploration.

In Design and Digital Technologies, students designed and 3D-printed boats before testing them in water to see how well they floated and raced. Drama lessons focused on experimenting with the elements of drama and character development, bringing out their inner performers. English was all about poetry, where students shone as budding poets, creating impressive and heartfelt works.

In Visual Arts, our Shadow Art unit showcased students’ creativity as they crafted wonderful art pieces using only cardboard and sticky tape. Meanwhile, in HASS, we explored natural hazards, with a particular focus on bushfires and how to respond to them.

In Mathematics, students investigated data and chance, conducting various chance experiments to apply their learning. Health lessons centred around building respectful relationships, an important skill for interacting with one another. Science was all about light, with students delving into its fascinating properties through experiments and exploration.

This term also featured some memorable events, including our Swimming Carnival, where students displayed fantastic effort and team spirit, and Awards Day at HOTA, which celebrated their achievements. To finish off the term, students enjoyed an energetic and competitive game of Capture the Flag, a fun way to wrap up the year.

It’s been a fantastic term of learning, creativity, and growth, and we’re proud of all that the students have achieved!

Secret Santa Celebrations in Year 5

This week, our classrooms were filled with joy and excitement as we celebrated our Secret Santa gift exchange and class parties! Students thoughtfully brought in gifts for one another, spreading kindness and holiday cheer. It was wonderful to see the smiles and gratitude as gifts were exchanged, creating a festive and heart-warming atmosphere.

The celebrations were a fantastic way to end the term, bringing everyone together to reflect on a great year and get into the holiday spirit. Well done to all our students for their thoughtfulness and participation!

Farewell to Our Year 5 Students
