Congratulations to Harry Simington on his selection in the AFL Futures Game on Grand Final Day at the MCG. On Grand Final Day, Harry will be playing on the MCG in front of a big finals crowd as part of a National Under 17 Futures game. 50 players were selected from around the country, four players from South East Queensland, will showcase their skills in front of the game’s most influential recruiters, as well as in front of thousands of spectators in a curtain raiser for the Grand Final.
Harry’s selection follows outstanding games for Queensland in U17 selection matches as well as playing in the Queensland U18 team this year as an underage player. In Tasmania earlier in the year, Harry captained a Queensland under 17s side to victory against Tasmania in a selection trial for the Futures game at the MCG. The Tasmanian game was notable not only because it snowed during the game, but Harry kicked two goals in a very low scoring game in very strong winds, and was named in the best players category.
Harry has also played 12 games this year in the Suns reserves team which culminated in an unexpected finals appearance. The young Suns academy players, including Harry, were a big part of the Suns reserves resurgence at the end of the season.
