Harry Simington was presented his AFL QLD jumper for the state Under 18 side. In this team Harry is a “bottom age” player – playing underage in 2016. He will be eligible to play for this team again next year (2017).
This presentation was made by Gary Ablett at a jumper presentation dinner in the evening on the Gold Coast on 25th April. Both the male and female team were presented their jumpers.
Queensland will play the other states in a championship over the next couple of months, and although the expectation is that the older players will get the majority of game time, Harry is part of the squad as an underage player.
Harry also played Gold Coast Suns reserves against the (Brisbane) Lions reserves, and against the Greater Western Sydney reserves in the last few weeks. Both games the Suns won, and Harry was able to kick a goal in each game – even though he played mostly in defence. Harry played alongside some listed AFL players in these reserves matches, so it was a great experience.
Exciting times for our Harry!
