Term 4 Week 1
Welcome back to another busy term.
Roeland Weisfelt’s contract concludes at the end of this year. He has been a welcome addition to the staff and set the foundation for our new Business Manager to take over in 2017 – Ms Marion Baxter. We will of course miss Roeland, but thank him very much for his contribution to the College, particularly in setting up this new role in our ever expanding campus.
Yr 10 Parent Information Night regarding senior schooling and subject choices is planned for Term 4 Tuesday 11th October 6pm – 7.30pm.
Monday 17th October is a student-free day as per Ed. Qld.
The College Play is on Friday evening 21st October and Saturday 22nd October – matinee and evening performances. Please book on-line to see a fabulous production – Man the Balloon. We appreciate your support for the hard work put in by our students and staff.
Man the Balloon
A small town is sent into turmoil when the local balloon man declares the outbreak of an alarming trend: citizens are spontaneously bursting! Elliot, a hapless balloon enthusiast, struggles to uncover the cause of the random implosions and convince his apathetic neighbours that they need help before they all disappear into thin air. Man the Balloon is a satirical and absurd parable of an insecure, small-minded society unwittingly bent on self-destruction.
Tamborine Mountain College’s 2016 Drama Excellence Production, Man the Balloon is fast approaching.
Tickets are $15 for concession and $20 for adults – this includes hors d’oeuvres at interval. A selection of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages will be available before the performances and at interval.
Tickets can be purchased online or on (07) 5545 3644.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Don’t forget to check our community bulletins here.
Stage Area is being upgraded and will take some time to complete in October. It will be a wonderful improvement! Assemblies will be held elsewhere until finished.
P&F next meeting is Wednesday 2nd November at 2pm.
Speech Night is held on Wednesday 16th November. Due to the licensing number regulations of Vonda Youngman Community Centre (350 people max) advised to us recently, we can no longer have a whole school attendance for this event. All Yr 12, 11 and 6 will be required, as well as Award Winners from yr 7, 8, 9, 10 (tba prior to the night). The College Band will also be required for performance. Family and siblings of students required on the night are also expected. Form Teachers and Board Members, as well as official guests, will be in attendance. We will also have a special whole school assembly at school to congratulate these students. Thank you for your support regarding this new arrangement, which is how we will have to move forward in the coming years
Primary Awards will be held on Thursday 17th November 9am – 10am. This event has been brought forward due to roadworks happening at the front of the College in the last week of term, which will cause some inconvenience for traffic and parking.
Snack-shop Please be aware that any order must be received before 9.30am. Some parents are emailing or phoning orders very late in the morning and we cannot fulfil these requests. If a child is ever without food and an order has not been received or placed, then we always have emergency supplies available at the office.
Census – For your information, in line with State and Federal guidelines, TMC collects data on students to include in census requirements for all schools.
New Primary building project is well and truly underway for 4 new classrooms. The purpose built Prep classroom is very exciting and as much as we all love the “Cubby House” the Architects have developed a fabulous area for our little ones.
Circle Time is our new pastoral care program for the entire campus. It is an excellent approach to addressing student issues and concerns in a safe and caring environment.
Absences need to be communicated to the office as a priority, to assist parents we have created an Absences notification tool on our website available 24hrs 7 days per week. Please email [email protected] advising of student name, reason, date from – to, or you may use the student absences form here.
Parent/Guardian help – TMC Policy is for visiting parents that are attending to the school for any other means than collecting their student must sign in at the office and wear a Visitor’s pass. Furthermore, Parents are not to use student toilets – this is mandatory for safety reasons. Parents can use the disabled toilets only. There is signage to that effect.
Late students – arriving after 9am – must report to the office to sign-in before proceeding to class. This is extremely important due to the need of accurate attendance records in the advent of an emergency.
Digital Resource Centre (DRC) – Digital Library. Our Digital Resource Centre started operating in Term 4 last year.To access the DRC you will need to use your child’s TMC email address and password. For those unsure of your email address, it should be the initial of your first name, then your last name, with @tmc.qld.edu.au at the end. Please see your child’s teacher if you are unsure about the password. e.g. [email protected] step-by-step guide of how to access the DRC is here, including Apple & Android apps:
Equestrian is headed by two girls in Yr 10 this year. Kate Green and Katherine Glover have volunteered to supply information to our keen Equestrian students to assist them to follow the events through-out the year.
