Term 1 Week 8

Only a week and a half left before the end of Term 1!

St Patrick’s day:

It was great to see the whole College dress in green for this fundraiser – even our wonderful teachers! SRC organise such days – good fun for all and always for a good cause.

Yr 11 Drama:

An excursion to Brisbane to see an indigenous performance was organised by Ms Green and students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

TMC Has Talent (secondary students only):

Next Wednesday after lunch we are holding this event and parents of secondary students are welcome.

Term 1 Reports:

These will be emailed in first week of the holidays. They are an interim report only (no grades) and teacher/parent interviews follow in Term 2 Monday 27th April – book on-line http://www.tmc.qld.edu.au/parent-teacher-interviews/. Be aware that it is not compulsory to attend an interview unless a teacher has requested this on your child’s report. We did hold a “Meet the Teacher” night earlier in the term, which was a big success. The interview sessions are for particular issues/concerns. Of course you can make an appointment to see a teacher at a convenient time through-out the year if this particular night does not suit.

Primary Campus Building Up-date:

There is plenty of action and progress but unfortunately the primary site will not be completed until end of May (approx). That means, of course, that we must stay as we are at present on this campus until then. It is pleasing to report that campus life for all students is running smoothly but we will be pleased when we can move onto two campuses. Again a sincere thank you for everyone’s patience and understanding – parents, students, teachers and staff. I think we will have to have a special celebration when we do make the move!

P&F Meeting:

We had a great turn-out for our meeting. We are urgently needing volunteers for our Easter raffle wrap-up on Monday and Tuesday of the last week. Also volunteers for the sausage sizzle planned for the last day Wednesday 1st April. Please contact [email protected] We cannot function without the kind support of our parents.

Easter Raffle:

We are asking all students to bring in Easter eggs for our fabulous Easter raffle – this year we will hold major prizes for Primary and Secondary separately and many other raffle wins as well – drawn on last day of term Wednesday 1st April.

1st April – last day of term:

Wednesday 1st April we have Cross-country (Long Road) and the Easter Bonnet Parade and Raffle (TMC). An invitation with all details has been sent out to parents – hope to see you here.

Primary Assembly on Friday:

Special congratulations to Mannix Turner who was awarded our first Silver Arrow badge in Primary. Other awards for level achieved were also very pleasing and the Yr 6 presentation on “Energy” was fabulous. We were also very privileged to be invited to Yr 6 classroom for demonstrations.

The College marches in the community on ANZAC Day. Although this is on Saturday 25th April and is deemed a public holiday it is our expectation that all students march. Please advise me via email if you have other commitments on this day – [email protected] This year is very important to commemorate the 100 year anniversary. Our College will also hold a special assembly on Thursday 23rd at 11.30am in which every student will receive a commemorative bronze coin.

Have a safe and enjoyable week-end

June Melbourne
