Term 2 commences Monday 20th April.

Welcome back to another term.

Special ANZAC Assembly 23rd April:

This year is very important to commemorate the 100 year anniversary. Our College will hold a special assembly on Thursday 23rd at 12 in which every student will receive a commemorative coin. Parents are invited to attend morning tea with ANZAC biscuits of course, sausage sizzle, followed by the special assembly.

ANZAC Day:

The College marches in the community on ANZAC Day. Although this is on Saturday 25th April and is deemed a public holiday it is our expectation that all students march. Please advise me via email if you have other commitments on this day – [email protected] At the end of the community march, students will be dismissed into the care of their parents for the ceremony, unlike in previous years when we all sat together (some parents may decide to take little ones home if you feel the ceremony will be taxing on them). Only Yr 12 Captains and Yr 6 Captains will stay and sit with Mrs Melbourne, Mr Stevens and Mrs Stevens for the ceremony.

Yr 5 & 6 Camp:

Monday to Wednesday first up this term – have fun!

Yr 9 History Excursion:

Tuesday first week back – should be very interesting and fun in Ipswich.

Yr 12 Drama Excursion:

Wednesday first week back – into Brisbane to the Playhouse.

Teacher/Parent Interviews:

Term 2 Monday 27th April – book on-line http://www.tmc.qld.edu.au/parent-teacher-interviews/. Be aware that it is not compulsory to attend an interview unless a teacher has requested this on your child’s report. We did hold a “Meet the Teacher” night earlier in Term 1, which was a big success. The interview sessions are for particular issues/concerns. Of course you can make an appointment to see a teacher at a convenient time through-out the year if this particular night does not suit.

Primary Campus Building Up-date:

There is plenty of action and progress but unfortunately the primary site will not be completed until end of May (approx). That means, of course, that we must stay as we are at present on this campus until then. It is pleasing to report that campus life for all students is running smoothly but we will be pleased when we can move onto two campuses. Again a sincere thank you for everyone’s patience and understanding – parents, students, teachers and staff. I think we will have to have a special celebration when we do make the move!

Art Room Request:

The art room requires magazines and any old picture books that can be used for collage.  If you would like to donate any unwanted magazines or picture books Mr Mathers and Miss Godfrey would greatly appreciate it.

Have a safe and enjoyable week-end

June Melbourne
