Dylan has had a couple of achievements over the past couple of months with his baseball that I wanted to let you know of & thought you may want to include in a newsletter.
Mr Byrnes assisted with nominating Dylan to trial for the Under 14’s Southcoast Schools Baseball Team & after 3 years of trialling, Dylan was lucky enough to be 1 of 14 boys selected out of the 45 that trialled from across the Southcoast Schools region to play in the Southcoast Schools U14’s team. The team competed at the 2017 Queensland School Sport 12-14 Years Baseball State Championships held from 15th to 18th June & went through undefeated. While Dylan unfortunately didn’t make the Queensland State Team, he was lucky enough to be 1 of 14 children from the 98 that played in the Championships to be invited to play in the Queensland Cyclones Team at the Greenways Baseball Tournament being held in Sydney from late September to early October. I have attached some photos of Dylan when he played for Southcoast Schools U14’s Team.
On a separate note, Dylan recently trialled for the Gold Coast Cougars Under 16’s Representative Squad & from the 40 children that trialled unfortunately Dylan was selected as a shadow which means that unless a player pulls out, he didn’t get the opportunity to play. However, his disappointment was short lived due to Brisbane North (a region that covers north of Brisbane area) contacted us within 45 minutes of hearing that Dylan hadn’t gained a place on the Gold Coast team & asked Dylan to play for their team. Due to this Dylan is now representing Brisbane North in the Under 16’s State Championships being held in Cairns from 15th September to 20th September. Hopefully Dylan & the Brisbane North Team can achieve a placing of 1st or 2nd which will then take them through to the Under 16 National Championships that are due to be held in Lismore in June of next year.
Dylan is getting up to the age where the competition & making teams is getting harder & harder but hopefully with his determination & need to succeed, he will continue to gain places on the representative teams.
We are very proud of what he is continuing to achieve with his baseball & pleased he is so passionate about it.
