Dylan along with his 13 team mates trained for 4 days per week for a minimum of 2 hours per day working towards being ready to play in the 2016 QLD David Nilsson State Little League Titles that were held from 7th to 10th April at Runcorn.
On day one of State Titles, the team were victorious with 2 wins against Brisbane Metro and Brisbane South. The team started day two with a bye & unfortunately after an 8 inning battle went down to Brisbane North by one point. Day three they were on fire, winning their first game 35 to 9 against Brisbane West & then 9 to 2 against Far North Coast.
The final day being day four, saw them start the day with a win against North QLD which then put them into the final gold medal game after only having lost one game for the whole tournament. The gold medal game was an intense game against Brisbane North who were undefeated for the tournament. Dylan was closing pitcher for this game & he did a fantastic job, in the end the team won 9 to 4 – making them the QLD State Little League Titles Champions!
This is the first time that a Gold Coast Little League team has been able to win the State Titles which makes us so proud to know that Dylan was a part of that achievement.
The team now begins training for 4 days per week again in readiness for the 2016 Little League National Championships due to be held in Lismore from 8-13 June 2016.
The team that then wins the 2016 Little League National Championships goes to play in the World Titles being held in the USA.
We are so very proud of Dylan’s achievement with this and he is extremely excited about the opportunity to play in the National Championships, as it is a great opportunity to gain experience & make lifelong friendships & it also puts him one step closer to his ultimate dream of playing in the MLB one day.
