Dylan was invited by Gold Coast Baseball Association to trial for the Gold Coast Cougars Senior League Representative squad in January of this year. After 5 weeks of trials including drills, time trials, skills trials & practice games, out of 30+ children aged 14 to 15 years old from across the Gold Coast Baseball Clubs Dylan was selected as one of 14 children to play in the 2018 Gold Coast Cougars Senior League Representative team.
Dylan along with his 13 team mates trained for 3 days per week for a minimum of 2 hours per day working towards being ready to play in the 2018 Senior League QLD State Titles that were held from 12th to 15th April at Padres Baseball Club in Redcliffe.
The team played two games per day prior to the finals day, with some games starting at 7:00pm at night. They had a great tournament with only one loss across the 7 games they played. Due to them going through with only one loss for the first four days of the State Titles, they gained direct entry to the Grand Final which was held on the final day, the grand final game against Far North Coast was played out a bit easier than anticipated & they won the game 11-1 – making them the QLD 2018 Senior League State Titles Champions!
Going through the whole of the State Titles with only one loss in this age group is no easy task, which makes us so proud to know that Dylan was a part of that achievement.
The team now begins training for 3-4 days per week again in readiness for the 2018 Senior League Australian National Championships due to be held in Lismore from 19 to 25 May 2018.
The team that then wins the 2018 Senior League Australian National Championships goes to play in the World Titles being held in the USA.
Dylan was also commended on his exemplary behaviour during the course of the tournament, which was extra pleasing to hear.
We are so very proud of Dylan’s achievements with this and he is extremely excited about the opportunity to play in the National Championships, as it is a great opportunity to gain experience & make lifelong friendships & it also puts him one step closer to his ultimate dream of playing in the MLB one day.
