Dylan Sippel, 7VAL, was nominated by his local baseball club Coomera Cubs to trial for the Gold Coast Pirates Charter 12’s Representative squad in October last year. The trials were run by way of a 4 hour session each Sunday from Oct to Dec 2015 where he had to participate in drills, time trials & skills trials.
On 3rd Dec last year he was advised that he had made the first cut (out of 50 plus children) in to the 2016 Gold Coast Pirates Charter Little League Squad (+ Futures) & that the squad would be cut to a final team around mid Feb 2016.
From Dec 2015 to Feb 2016 he participated in 2 of 3 hour training sessions per week at which he did further drills, skills training & time trials were also conducted.
On 11th Feb 2015 Dylan had been selected in the 2016 Gold Coast Pirates Charter Little League Team.
Team training occurs every Sunday for 3 hours & they have also competed in the Summer Classic Little League Tournament held at Mudgeeraba from 8-10 Jan during which they played an Auckland team that contained the best of the best from Auckland Little League & only lost by 1 point, coming in 2nd for the overall tournament.
The team are also playing in 2 practice tournaments to ensure the team is tournament ready for the 2016 QLD State Tournament due to be held at Indians Baseball Complex, Runcorn from 7 to 10 Apr this year.
If the team comes 1st or 2nd in that tournament (which we have been advised they have a good chance of achieving), they will progress to the 2016 Little League National Championships due to be held in Lismore from 8-13 June 2016.
The team that then wins the 2016 Little League National Championships goes to play in the World Titles being held in the USA.
Dylan made it to the National level last year!
We are all so very proud of Dylan’s achievement and he is extremely excited about the opportunity to play in the State Tournament, as it puts him a step closer to his ultimate dream of playing in the MLB one day.
