It is a busy time in the Tamborine Mountain College Arts’ calendar, with the annual Arts Night fast approaching. This year the event will run over two nights. Thursday 10th September will focus the work of the senior cohort while Friday 11th September will showcase talent of the junior school.
Parents and friends will be treated to live entertainment by the talented songstress Estelle McPherson and pianist Ruby Luck whilst admiring a myriad of displays from all year levels in an Art exhibition. Following canapés and light refreshments, the Jack Walton Resource centre will convert to a theatre, with year 12s performing their Brechtian “one-man” shows while the juniors will perform a variety of small scripts and monologues. It is an event not to be missed.
2015, has also seen to the development of the Drama Excellence program at the College. The program is open to Senior students who wish to hone their skills in Drama. Each Friday students work intensively with teachers in developing a performance outcome.
This year the Drama excellence students have been self-devising a theatre script using the classic board game Cluedo to inspire characters while examining the “whodunit” genre to develop plot. The play will be performed as dinner theatre in the round in the Vonda Youngman Community Centre in late October. Watch this space for more details!
