Science was a recent highlight for Year 2 as we engaged to investigate underground resources. We started our flip books, identifying rocks as ‘hardened minerals from Earth’s crust.’ We also identified clay, sand, metal and coal as underground resources and discussed how they can be used. Our Thunderbird Park excursion was the perfect way to compliment such learning. After a safety talk from Tina at the Rock Shop, our children were geared up and ready to go! We made the steep climb to the top mining area, our children used their pick and bucket to fossick, dig and discover some real treasures. What a wonderful hands-on experience.
