On the 4th February the Tamborine Mountain branch of the Returned and Services League held a memorial service for their annual general meeting. Our school captains Kyle and Madeline were in attendance, with Madeline giving a stirring reading of the poem “100 years” by Damon Bickle. It was wonderful to see our school leaders participating in community events and representing the college so well. Congratulations!
The RSL sub-branch Mt Tamborine President Mr Phil Hunter wrote:
“Thank you so much for your ongoing support.
Recently the Sub-Branch hosted our Gold Coast District RSL AGM, this was a huge work load for us, and we had considerable guests and significant rank visiting our Sub-Branch. The Gold Coast District President and the executive, was accompanied by guests from Anzac House Brisbane, including the State President Mr Stewart Cameron and the State Executive.
The Sub-Branch put this event together perfectly, which was a great success, and a very enjoyable weekend and experience for us all.
We would not be able to put these events together without the support we receive from our community.
Please pass on my heart felt ‘thank you’s’ to both your school captains for their efforts and contribution.
Madeline reading the poem ‘100years’ and Kyle laying a wreath, being our younger generation, on behalf of the College was perhaps a highlight for me personally, you should also be aware that their ability to interact and mix with the older generation is a credit to the College”
