The College is very pleased to announce that two of our wonderful Year 10 students successfully completed the Youth Leadership Program run by Scenic Rim Council: Kayli Sas and Wade De Bruyn. The program runs for 7 days over a 6 month period and aims to focus on a combination of three key topics:
- Youth Leadership Development (skills in leadership, self awareness, group facilitation, delivering effective presentations, networking and contributing to decision-making processes);
- Increase young people’s understanding of Government processes and invite young people’s input into Council programs and activities; and
- Provide an opportunity for young people to develop presentation skills with the program culminating in a 2 hour Youth Symposium on the final day.
On Monday our entire Year 10 cohort travelled to Beaudesert to witness the inspirational Youth Symposium on leadership, as well as to give support to Wade and Kayli who were public speaking. We were also lucky enough to listen to Natalie Cook, 5x Olympic Beach Volleyball champion, who was not only inspirational in her achievements but also a riveting speaker. We are very proud to have our students participate in this valuable program so enthusiastically.
